Luckas has been teaching mathematics, physics and chemistry with Professor+ for several years. His background runs through the most demanding French scientific pathways: two years of MPSI-MP preparatory classes at Lycée Pierre de Fermat, an engineering degree in photonics at Institut d’Optique, then an MSc in Optics and Photonics at Imperial College London, awarded with Distinction.

That year in London, studied entirely in English, means he now teaches science in both languages. A student at the International School of Monaco can work through mathematics in English, using the vocabulary and notation conventions of their own syllabus; a student at Lycée Albert-Ier works in French, on their classroom materials.

In a lesson, Luckas always starts from what the student has already attempted. He asks them to talk through their reasoning, pinpoints the exact step that breaks down, and then sets a neighbouring exercise to check that the understanding holds. He communicates clearly and is particularly at ease with secondary-school students.

What they bring to a student

Science in English

Maths, physics and chemistry taught in the language of the syllabus, including international curricula.

Higher education

The expectations of French preparatory classes and early university science, seen from the inside.

Reasoning made explicit

Students learn to justify each step rather than reproduce a worked solution.
